It is also a good idea to keep one in your vehicle, so you don’t get caught out whilst you are travelling. If you spend a lot of time outdoors, chuck a survival kit into your outdoor backpack to be safe! This is especially helpful if you are hiking and hurt yourself along the way. The Survival Kit Company offers a variety of different kits for different adventures, whether you are out fishing on the boat, playing sports or hunting. What Should a First Aid Kit Contain in NZ?

The Survival Kit Company has designed a General All Purpose First Aid Kit that has all the essentials you can think of. Plasters are an essential item in any first aid kit, able to fix small cuts in a jiffy. For bigger injuries, it is always important to have bandages on hand. This kit contains a crepe bandages, triangular bandages and elastic fabric dressings. To cut the bandage to fit, you’ll need scissors in your kit as well. On top of that, safety pins are crucial for keeping your dressing together. You’ll also need to sterilise wounds to prevent infection, which is where saline solutions, alcohol wipes come in handy. For hygiene purposes, you’ll also want a pair of gloves. If you are hiking or exercising and discover a blister is forming, this kit contains blister plasters. Another common issue is splinters, which can be sorted with splinter probes and forceps. If you find yourself in a situation where you need to practice CPR, a CPR shield will protect your from having to make direct contact with the victim for hygiene purposes. If you are experiencing extremely low temperatures, an emergency foil blanket is ideal in case someone reaches a hypothermic level. Use this blanket to wrap them up and trap the body heat in so they do not freeze. To make sure you know what you are doing and are prepared, don’t throw out your first aid basic emergency information. This is just the little piece of paper that comes with every kit! Each kit is brightly coloured and clearly labelled, making it easy to find in a hurry. It is also easily portable so you can be readily prepared.
