This winter wonderland is also home to beautiful wineries, fine dining restaurants and picturesque golf courses. With so many things to do, it can be hard to cram everything into your itinerary. To help you with your planning, we have narrowed it down to our top 8 places to visit.

Onsen Hot Pools

Location: 162 Arthurs Point Road, Arthurs Point, Queenstown 

The Onsen Hot Pools is well known for its beautiful cedar hot tubs with breathtaking views of the Shotover River amongst the mountains. These pools offer spa treatments and soak only options in both the daytime and the evening. The most popular package is called “The Original Onsen”, which offers one hour of ultimate relaxation. Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine, beer or juice and indulge in ice cream, chocolate or potato chips. Suitable for 1-4 people, with a retractable roof that allows you to choose between an indoor or outdoor feel with the push of a button. Although on the pricy side, there really isn’t anything else quite like Onsen Hot Pools.

Fergburger

Location: 42 Shotover St. Queenstown 

Unwind after an action-packed day in Queenstown with a delicious burger from Fergburger. Our advice? Don’t show up when you are starving hungry, as there will likely be lines out the door when you arrive. However, don’t let this put you off! Fergburger is popular for a reason, providing burgers filled with succulent beef, streaky bacon, tasty chicken and more. They also offer vegetarian options for those who aren’t meat-eaters.

Shotover Jet

If you have an appetite for adventure. you will love the adrenaline rush that comes with the Shotover Jet. These boats are fast, hitting speeds up to 90km per hour. You’ll get to ride through the Shotover River and the Shotover Canyons, all the while doing crazy stunts that will leave you breathless. The ride is 25 minutes in duration.

Skiing the Remarkables

Location: 40 Min Drive out of Central Queenstown

Price: It varies depending on how long you want to ski/snowboard for and what snow package you are after. It can range anywhere from $130 – $1000, so I would highly recommend doing some personal research into this one if you are keen on a snow trip.

Whether you are an avid skier/snowboarder or a total novice when it comes to snow sports, The Remarkables is a great place to hit the slopes. It is super family-friendly and a great place for beginners to find their feet. This ski field includes three bowls and has more than 350 hectares to enjoy. To get here, either drive the scenic route or take the ski bus. The Remarkables will be open in everyday in 2021 from July – October.

Minus 5º Ice Bar

Price: Single adult price: $30-$35, Child entry: $20

The Minus 5 Ice Bar is like nothing you’ve ever seen before! The entire bar is made entirely of ice and decorated with insane ice sculptures. When you walk in, the staff will get you kitted out in winter woollies like puffer jackets, warm boots and gloves so you don’t freeze! With temperatures ranging from -5 to -10, you’re gonna be very grateful for the extra layers. Enjoy a tasty cocktail or mocktail as you marvel at the winter wonderland around you!

Kawarau Bridge Bungy

Location: Inside the Station Building Shotover Street 

Price: Currently $143.50

Get the adrenaline pumping with the Kawarau Bridge Bungy! This bungy is an exhilirating 43m high, allowing you to touch the water with your fingertips once you reach the bottom. You can even do it with a friend by choosing the tandem option! With a free bungy bus operating everyday at 10:00am from the Queenstown Bungy Centre, it is super easy to get there. If you want to cut your travel time in half, we would recommend driving yourself.

Appellation Wine Tours

With five tee positions and 6,388 metres of course that follows the natural terrain of native trees, plant and bush.
