What is humm?

Humm is a flexible payment option, allowing you to apply for both small and large purchases. If you are spending up to $1000, humm allows you to split your payments into a manageable five fortnightly payments or 10 weekly payments. If you are spending anywhere between $1000 – $10000, you can apply for fortnightly repayments spread out over 6, 9, 12 or 24 months. Regardless of your purchase value, humm never charges interest – ever.

How do I humm? 

Anyone can humm with just a few simple steps. All you have to is click here to sign up and create an account. Alternatively, you can sign up through the official humm app, which is found on the App Store and Google Play. Simply enter your mobile number, key in your unique code and fill in a few details. As soon as you’ve signed up, you’ll have access to your little things wallet!  

The next step is to get shopping. Once you have added your goods into your cart, head to the checkout to process your order. Under the “Payment Information” section, you will see a little tick box for humm. You will then be redirected to the humm website to finish up your transaction. Easy! 

What are the fees like with humm? 

As there is no interest, people often wonder whether this will result in astronomical fees. The short answer is no. 

When you purchase a little thing (under $1000), you don’t have to pay any fees at all! 

When you purchase a big thing ($1000 – 10,000), the fees are minimal. At the time of purchase, you will be charged a $20 fee. From there on in, you’ll only have to pay $2.50 per month. Not bad!

If you make any late payments, you will be charged a $10 late payment fee, regardless of whether your purchase was little or big.

Who can apply for humm? 

Virtually anyone! Just make sure you meet the following requirements: 

  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Be a permanent resident of New Zealand.
  • Have a permanent job (at least 25 hours a week) or be on a New Zealand Super or Veteran’s Pension.
  • Be sure you’re not insolvent (or declared bankrupt).
  • Have a valid New Zealand driver licence or passport.
